JETER PASSES BABE ON ALL-TIME HIT LEADER

The rivalry between the Yankees and Red Sox has had many great moments in the history of this series. Jeter hit a singles in the bottom of the second off Boston’s starter Josh Beckett to hit his 2,874th career hit, putting him alone in 39th place on the all-time hit list. He hit a double to put the Yankees up 7-1 and one hit behind Mel Ott. “Obviously Babe Ruth means a lot to baseball, especially to this it’s special,” ┬ásaid Jeter, ” It’s not like it was a goal of mine because I was unaware of it but it feels good once you accomplish it.”

  1. It is always exciting when a baseball player like Jeter surpasses records set by the greatest players of all time like, Babe Ruth. Because, he has set the standard not just by being a great ball player but by being a great captain for his team. You don’t have to be the guy with the strongest bat but, be the one your team can always depend on to put the ball in play.
